Steven D. Jaeger, an attorney with O’Hara, Ruberg, Taylor, Sloan and Sergent, announces his candidacy for Edgewood City Council
Edgewood, Kentucky (June 16, 2008) – Steven D. Jaeger announces his candidacy for Edgewood City Council, and filed his papers today with the Kenton County Clerk’s Office. Jaeger is the son of Senior Status Judge Steven R. Jaeger and Connie Jaeger of Edgewood, Kentucky.
“My parents have instilled in me the importance of giving back to my community. Thanks to them, I have always been interested in public service and the political arena. Thanks to my dad, I had the opportunity to be around politics, and I have a deep sense of obligation to serve my community,” Jaeger said.
While at Thomas More College, Jaeger was president of the Student Government Association, and served one year as a member of the College’s Board of Trustees. Jaeger said, “Thomas More was a great experience for me. While there, I learned a lot about dealing with various organizations, the importance of being fiscally conservative, and the obligation for public service was reinforced.”
Jaeger, age 27, is married to Lindsey Jaeger, also an attorney. They reside in Winding Trails. Both are graduates of Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. Jaeger explained, “As a couple, Lindsey and I have adopted the philosophy of Winston Churchill: ‘You make a living by what you earn; you make a life by what you give.’ We are ready to give back to our community.”
Jaeger is trying to do just that. He has joined Northern Kentucky Legacy, where he is a member of the Civic Engagement Committee and he is also a member of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section, where he chairs the membership committee. “I feel that it is really important to try and get everyone to be connected, whether it is to their personal or professional community. To do that, they have to want to get involved. These Organizations are a great way to achieve that goal,” Jaeger explained.
“Hopefully, we can do more on an even larger scale come November,” Jaeger said. “That is why I am asking to serve the people of Edgewood. It would be an honor.”
Background:
Jaeger attended R.C. Hinsdale Elementary School, Turkey Foot Middle School, and Dixie Heights High School (where he served as Senior Class president). He has also authored several articles for the much anticipated Northern Kentucky Encyclopedia, including an article about the City of Edgewood and St. Pius X Church.
Jaeger attended the nationally renowned Junior Statesmen program in Washington, D.C. Jaeger also served as a United States Senate Summer Intern for Senator Mitch McConnell in Washington D.C.
Stephanie Dietz will serve as the Treasurer for Jaeger’s campaign.
